"We bought Brindle Barn ten years ago and slowly brought it back to life — stone by stone, room by room. It's a quiet, simple place to slow down for a few days, with the moor on your doorstep and the village pub a short walk away."
— Tom & Rachel
Brindle Barn sits at the quiet end of a small Somerset village, with footpaths leading directly onto open moorland. The local pub — proper fire, proper beer, dog water bowl by the door — is a five-minute walk down the lane.
Dunkery Beacon, the highest point on Exmoor, is a fifteen-minute drive away. The coast at Porlock Weir is twenty. Closer still, the wooded valleys around Horner and Webber's Post make for some of the loveliest walking in the South West.
We leave a folder of routes in the kitchen, marked up by Tom over the years — short strolls, half-day walks and a few longer ones for the keen.
"The perfect weekend escape. The kitchen was beautifully kitted out, the log burner saved us on a cold Sunday, and the view over the valley was incredible. We've already booked again."
"We brought our two dogs and they had the best time. Brindle Barn is dog-friendly without feeling like a dog-friendly place, if that makes sense. Beautifully done."
"Genuinely one of the nicest stays we've had. Quiet, well-stocked, and the welcome basket was a really lovely touch. Tom and Rachel were brilliant hosts."
